Fan-dang- the service charge!

This past weekend we saw Cars 2 at the movie theaters. The kids were so excited to go- this was Matthew's 2nd movie at a theater and Julia's very first. I was a bit nervous because Julia had never been to a movie theater and she is such a little diva that I just knew she was going to cause some kind of chaotic scene. In preparation for the movie, we talked about the lights going off, that it would be dark and loud but she could sit on mommy's lap if she got scared. We talked about popcorn, how much fun she was going to have and we talked about the movie.

All of those preparations didn't prepare me for a stinking service chrage when we purchased tickets online through Fandango. We thought it would be the best way to secure our tickets because of such a popular kids movie. We didn't want to get there and be left in the dust if tickets were not available.

To my surprise...Julia was wonderful and even fell asleep the last 45 minutes of the movie. But the other surprise was a $6 service charge that Fandango charged us to pick up our tickets at the kiosk! What a joke and rip-off! Just happy that the kids had fun and Julia didn't have a drama-tude during the movie!

Fathers Day Part III...Missing our dads

As we celebrate David and other dads on father's Day, we are also celebrating the lives that his dad and my dad lived. We visted the cemetary this past weekend and it was so touching to see the kids put flowers on their gravesites. We talk to the kids all the time about their Pop-Pop and Lolo. They know that Pop-Pop and Lolo are guardian angels, who fly, who live in heaven and who watch over them.
I miss my dad's voice, the way he used to sing, laugh and yell at me when I was in trouble
I miss holding my dad's hand and hugging him
I miss all of the advice he used to give me. He was always right...
Most of all, I miss him being here to be part of so many wonderful family moments.

I am sad that he didn't get to have more time with Matthew and Julia.
I wanted him to have more time with me, my mom, my brother, my sister, his son/daughter inlaw, and more time with all of his grandchildren.

May he continue to watch over us, guide his and give us his strength, love and faith as we continue to live his dream for mom, his children and grandchildren.

Finally- Dave's Fathers Day Presents finally arrived! You are probably shocked that I bought Dave something as a surprise because you know we like to go out and buy each other gifts together! It's fun and we make a day out of it. This Father's day, I decided to surprise him. (I hate surprises!) I got him the Lacoste Cologne set! Smells so nice and I got two cute bags with them as well! It was such a steal-- 2 different Lacoste colognes, 1 personal face shaver/trimmer, 1 Lacoste duffle bag and 1 soft sided cooler with an iPod plug and speakers!

David is such a patient, understanding and loving dad. We compliment each other so well as a married couple and make a great team as parents! Matthew and Julia just adore him and see him as this super hero that can do anything! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful, caring and loving husband who puts his family first.

Father's Day Part I- David & Princess Julia

This is part I of a few posts in preparation for Father's Day. When there are 2 or more kids in a family, its always hard for them each to find or have one/one time with their parents. Between working, school, chores, and life in general Dave and I always want to make sure our kids have some mommy/daddy time. It's important that we give each of them personal attention by playing the games they like to play, toys they like or having their own special day with just mom and dad. However, once we had Julia, I don't think David ever pictured himself doing the following THIS with Julia...

Yellow Glitter Princess Nail Polish
Julia putting pink glitter nail polish on a different finger

Julia told David that he should "blow" so his nail polish dries!

"Your children will graduate and be promoted to many things, but this graduation will be the most memorable" This comment made by Ms. Judy, Director and owner of Severna Park Childrens Centre really struck me yesterday and as Matthew walked into the pavillion, sang his songs, recited his poems and received his Pre-K diploma. The comment was so true because he doesn't have to worry about what kind of car he will drive, what college to go to, what he is going to do or be the rest of his life he is jsut a 5 year old boy graduating from preschool....

Matthew and his classmates worked so hard for the last 4 months practicing each song, poem and dance to make sure that their parents and grandparents would witness the most adorable, innocent and sweetest graduation ever.

Severna Park Children Centre made this graduation so special for the children and parents. Each individual childwalked into the pavillion proudly by themselves to Pomp & Circumstance, smiled and waved to their parents and made us each all cry with their sweet voices and songs. Made us laguh with their dance moves and introductions and touched each one of us as they walked up to receive their diplomas.

Matthew enjoyed his special day with Dave, Grammy, Lola and myself. We went to the mall to do a little shopping, ate at Cheesecake Factory and we made sure that we got him his chocolate cheesecake that he had been asking for.

I just want to hold him tight. He is growing up so fast, getting so tall and learning so much. His laugh is infectious, his smile is so bright and he makes my heart smile.

Sunday June 12, 2011- we attended our church picnic. It wa a beautiful HOT day shared with other parishoners of our church raising money for Sacred Heart of Mary. The volunteers did a wonderful job with the activities, food and overall event. Below are a few pictures from the church picnic. It was nice to celebrate and we can't wait until next year's picnic.
